Diig.io is a lightweight tool for extractive transparency based on replicating a data model and searchable platform of petroleum exploration licences that was developed for Namibia to power investigative journalism and advocacy for stronger resource governance. Through the replication sprint process, two similar platforms were developed; a licensing platforms of Citizens for Justice, Oxfam Malawi, and the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association, who advocate for more transparent target mineral extraction in Malawi and Zimbabwe. The data in these platforms are the foundation for future work to collect, organise and analyse additional information about extractive governance, so watch this space.
